Aria Swarr started Kumi Films because of her passion for crafting a hopeful imagination. She is a visual storyteller who grew up between the Middle East and the U.S. and has created over 50 short documentaries as a producer, director, and editor–collaborating with teams and organizations internationally. She works with award-winning colleagues who bring their specialties to each project. She holds an MFA in Documentary Film & Video from Stanford University, professional certification in fiction feature film screenwriting from UCLA, professional certification in entrepreneurial studies from Stanford Business School, and is a recipient of the Harvey Fellowship, SparkArts Grant, Enerson Production Grant, Recontextualizing Richmond Collaborative Arts Grant, Windrider Best Documentary Film Award, and has had films screen at multiple festivals and venues, from Big Sky Documentary Film Festival to the Israeli Parliament.

Aria is currently working as a producer on a feature documentary and as a media consultant for an international non-profit. In her free time, aside from enjoying nature and friends, she writes whimsical screenplays about characters like animal astronauts.
